Cello
My heart comes straight out of my chest when I play cello.
I have played cello in a vast array of settings and continuously explore styles and techniques of playing.
Here are some sounds I've collected from over the years, and words from some of my collaborators.
“I’ve worked with Daniel on remote recording sessions for multiple album and film scoring projects, and he’s simply the best to work with out there. Whether learning the parts from sheet music, by ear, or improvising, he delivers a final product that drops perfectly into the audio session and provides an unspeakable depth of heart and authenticity. From performance to audio quality to turnaround time, he always exceeds expectations.”
Craig Minowa - Cloud Cult
“Daniel is a stellar musician and a delight to collaborate with. I experience him as open-minded, confident, curious, and willing to go with the flow. I appreciate how easy it is to collaborate and improvise with him. Daniel has played with me in many different configurations and contexts, and he always makes an invaluable contribution.”
Rev. Christopher Lamb - Crispy Watkins
In my own musical playtime, I've recorded a lot of vibey, layered cello improvisations.
They serve mostly my own need to dive deep into a meditative state of playing.
Sometimes I release this stuff and it's gotten some traction with listeners of ambient music, and filmmakers.
Have a listen below, and explore my albums on bandcamp.com for more ambient cello soundscapes.

Voice Acting
Identifying as a voice actor is a lateral career move that has attracted me for years.
It makes sense to me, an extension of what I'm so familiar with in music and audio work: attention to tone, pacing, focus, phrasing, adaptability, empathy, and performance.
Since I've been working with coaches, studying the profession, and establishing a strong routine of practice,
I now experience a state of deep enjoyment while preparing and executing voice work. Have a listen!

Audio Production
Whether it's music, radio, the narration of an audiobook, or the sound design and score for a film,
I've always loved the experience of listening to audio.
Not just hearing, but deeply listening and letting it in; learning to discern what's behind the audio.

It didn't take me long into my adulthood to realize that I wanted to apply my creativity to producing recorded sounds.
20 years later, my audio credits are too many to list.

In addition to recording myself, my background involves album production with musical artists, history pieces for community radio, live performance recordings, interviews, audiobook engineering, and live sound.
